Waste Disposal

General Waste

There are labelled bins in the farm area and there is general waste bin, along with a recyling bin in the kitchen. The kitchen bins are emptied regularly and the waste placed in the individual farm bins.

Waste disposal in the farm area is separated into the following categories:

  • paper and cardboard
  • hard plastic
  • metal
  • electrical items
  • tetrapack
  • compost
  • general (unrecycleable) waste

The waste from these bins is taken to the refuse tip according to the Master Schedule.

Nutrient Solution

Spent nutrient solution is currently disposed of by flushing it down the sink.

It does not appear that there are any regulations applying to disposal of spent nutrient solution in cities. The AHDB publishes some guidance on water regulations for farmers.
