Harvesting and Packaging

General Procedure

  • Wipe down all surfaces with isopropyl alcohol
  • Check for any returned boxes under the work table, ensure they’re clean and place in the packaging area.
  • Turn on the plastic bag sealing machine.
  • Look at Delivery Itinerary tab to determine the day’s orders.
  • Check Too Good To Go to determine how many boxes have been sold and update the number in the Delivery Itinerary.
  • Write the number of different box types and collection times on the freestanding whiteboard.
  • Print off 2 copies of the Delivery Spreadsheet (Farm Menu -> Create Delivery Spreadsheet) on the Customer Order spreadsheet. Give one copy to the driver and use another to check the prepared boxes.
  • Harvest and Package the Lettuce
    • Print off a paper copy of the Lettuce Weights Template for recording the lettuce weights.
    • For each delivery batch processed, record the weights of 10 lettuce either on the paper sheet or directly in the Lettuce Weights Tab.
    • Check the CropSchedule to determine which colour to harvest this week.
    • Bring the selected racks to the packaging area and begin harvesting.
  • Fill out the Delivery Log
  • Fill out the Delivery Batch Form
  • Clean harvested Zipracks with the steam cleaner.
  • Remove one face (15 towers) for deep cleaning according to the schedule, clean the bottom gutter of chosen face, and replace towers with clean towers, media & wicking strips.
  • Wipe down all surfaces with iso-propyl alcohol and sweep the fllor.
  • Have any blue plasters been accounted for in the Blue Plasters Log?
