Farm Operations

Schedule

Monday09:00-13:00
  • First thing: Check Sump, Drippers and plant health on the farm including the aeroponics, zipgrow edible walls in farm and foyer and radix system and rectify any problems straight away.

  • Meetings

  • Go through and check the edible walls in foyer, top up the sumps and check EC and add more ferts if required using the farm data and calculations to calculate. Replace any plugs with fresh seedlings if needed and clean and replace towers if pest attack or looking dirty.

Tuesday09:00-17:00
  • Go through the master schedule for weekly, monthly, quarterly, 6 monthly and yearly tasks and make sure these are kept ontop of and done when required.

Wednesday09:00-17:00
  • Harvesting and Packaging, noting on white board number of boxes, number of single bags, number of large bags, weight of each large bag, number of lettuce heads in waste and total waste weight. Transfer this information to the excel databases these being farm data and calculations (bagged lettuce worksheet) andl also the customer order database (delivery itinerary and delivery log worksheet).

  • If towers that were harvested have been used for 3 grow cycles then remove to the yard for disassembling and cleaning. If not then steam clean and use for the next wall transplanting.


  • Transfer seedling trays from the Germination tent into the Propagation Station and top up trays (2cm depth) with half strength ferts (1.5ml A & 1.5ml B/Litre then cover with cloches.

Thursday09:00-13:00

  • TMR lettuce delivery
Thursday13:00 – 17:00
  • Pete to take compost to dispose of in his field. Remove general waste and cardboard waste to the central bins located near Bean.

  • Do Alder Hey aquaponic cleaning once a month during winter months and bi weekly during summer.

Friday09:00-17:00
  • Replace farm wall towers cleaned back into the farm with wicks and matrix in place ready for use.
